On July 10, 2019 MORAN IP organized \u201cThe 2019 Brand Protection Training\u201d in Panama City, Panama.\u00a0 48 officials from Panama Customs Authority, IP Crime\u00a0 Division and Intelligence Unit Division of National Police and IP Prosecutor Office attended the training where they received guidelines and trends to identify suspect counterfeit goods and trends of illicit trade or goods from the following brand owners:\u00a0 APPLE, BEATS, BURBERRY, CHANEL, CROCS, MERCEDES-BENZ, VICTORIA\u2019S SECRET, PINK, BATH & BODY WORKS, HP, JUUL, LOUIS VUITTON, MOET HENNESSY, NBA, PHILIPS, P&G, RICHEMONT INTERNATIONAL, SALVATORE FERRAGAMO, TOMMY HILFIGER, UL and VANS. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Rodolfo\nSamuda, Sub Director of Panama Customs Authority and Mr. Cesar Schiaffino, WCO\nregional representative of the World Customs Organization which supervise with\nUNODC in Latin America \u201cThe Container Control Program\u201d, were the key note\nspeakers of the event. Also US officials from Customs Attach\u00e9 Office of Panama\nUS Embassy attended the event.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training\nwas intended to provide with the necessary information to Panamanian officials\nto detect suspect consignments.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 1996, Panama Customs has the power to seize counterfeit goods in\ntransit in Panama with final destination to other Latin America\ncountries.\u00a0 Due to its\ngeographical position, The Canal, free trade zones, and the logistic activities\nat ports, Panama is the main port of transit in the region, and received\nannually 7 millions TEU containers, which 80% of the them are in transit in\nPanama with final destination to other Latin America.\u00a0 Based on the above,\nMORAN IP is compromised to support and assure the anti-counterfeiting strategy\nof brand owners in Panama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
